Wooden toys by age - the wholesale buying guide for 3-12
The age pages here are procurement guides, not gift lists. Each band has its own room configuration, set sizes, indicative budget band and MOQ: 3-5 for block and role-play rooms, 5-8 for games and construction, 8-12 for strategy, STEM and maker projects. All models are graded 3+ or higher.

| Band | Classroom focus | Typical room set | Indicative budget | MOQ |
|---|---|---|---|---|

How the age pages are built
- What the age does: four play and learning markers that drive the purchase.
- Classroom configuration: area, quantity for a typical roll, notes.
- Set sizes: what a pack covers and the reorder cycle.
- Budget band: indicative FOB unit band and budget per child.
- Buying notes: what changes in sourcing at that age.
What changes across the bands
Volume falls and unit value rises as the age band goes up. A 3-5 room buys many blocks and props; an 8-12 room buys fewer, more complex sets, and storage for projects that run across several sessions.
The school year also changes the order. 3-5 room packs are refreshed each term; 8-12 game and STEM sets are usually bought once a year with a spare-pieces allowance.
Age grading is per model
- Every model carries its own grade: 3+, 5+, 6+ or 8+.
- A set takes the strictest grade of its parts.
- Small parts are labelled, not hidden; the warning text follows the destination market.
- The grade and the reason can be shared before the order.
Questions buyers ask
- Are these pages for parents?
- No. They are written for preschools, schools, daycares and distributors buying by the room. Each page covers configuration, set sizes, budget band and MOQ.
- Can we mix age bands in one order?
- Yes. A school with mixed-age rooms can order from two or three bands in one order and one container.
- Which band is hardest to source?
- 8-12: supply is thinner and complex sets carry higher MOQ. Plan that band earlier in the school year.
