Quality control for classroom wooden toy orders
Quality control runs at four points: incoming material, in-process build, finish and label check, and pre-shipment inspection against the reference sample. Classroom orders get a written inspection record with measurements and photos, so a school can file the evidence with the purchase order.
The four checkpoints
| Stage | What is checked | Record |
|---|---|---|
| Incoming material | Species, moisture, board defects, hardware | Material log |
| In-process | Dimensions, joints, sanding, hardware fitting | Line check |
| Finish and label | Finish coverage, color, label position and legibility | Photo record |
| Pre-shipment | Piece count, model match, function, packing | Inspection report |
Pre-shipment inspection
- Sample check: the production unit is compared with the signed-off sample.
- AQL: a typical AQL 2.5 for major defects is used; the exact level is confirmed on the order.
- Function: doors, hinges, wheels and fittings are operated, not just looked at.
- Count: piece count per carton against the packing list.
- Packing: carton marks, room split and label placement.
Defects that stop a shipment
- A detachable part that was not in the reference sample.
- Sharp edges, splinters or exposed fasteners on play surfaces.
- Wrong model, wrong color or wrong piece count against the packing list.
- Illegible or missing age and warning labels.
- Wet or damaged cartons that would not survive the container.
What you receive
- The inspection report with the sample reference and the result.
- Photos of the finished product, the label and the packed carton.
- Measured dimensions and weights against the specification.
- The packing list with carton and CBM data.
Questions buyers ask
- Can we use our own inspection company?
- Yes. Third-party inspection is welcome; we coordinate the visit and provide the sample and packing list.
- What happens if the inspection fails?
- The shipment is held and the defect is corrected or the model reallocated. The inspection is repeated before shipment, and the buyer sees both reports.
- Do you inspect every carton?
- Pre-shipment inspection works on a sample of cartons at the agreed AQL. A full carton check can be quoted for high-value or first orders.
