How to specify a classroom wooden toy order - RFQ fields and process

A classroom wooden toy specification has nine fields: room type, age band, model list, quantity per model, destination market, finish, report scope, packing and labelling, and delivery date. Write them once, send the same list to every supplier, and compare like with like before samples.

The process

  • RFQ to two or three suppliers using the same field list.
  • Compare quotes on model, piece count, MOQ, lead time and report status.
  • Order a sample of the models that carry the most cost or risk.
  • Sign off the sample and label artwork before production.
  • Confirm inspection and document list before shipment.

Evaluation checklist

  • Is the model list specific enough to compare, line by line?
  • Does the quote state the report status and scope per model?
  • Is the lead time after sample sign-off or after payment?
  • Are packing, CBM and carton marking included?
  • Is the parts list included for the items that wear first?

Common specification mistakes

  • Writing a total quantity without a per-model split.
  • Comparing FOB quotes that exclude packing and labelling.
  • Leaving the finish and report scope out of the RFQ.
  • Forgetting room or site carton marking for multi-room orders.
  • Buying a full room set before testing one model.

Questions buyers ask

Can you supply an RFQ template?
Yes. The fields above double as a template; send them filled and we return a model list with MOQ, lead time and report status.
How long does a quote take?
Usually two to five working days once the model list and market are clear. Samples take longer: 3-7 days for stock, 7-15 for custom after artwork sign-off.
Do you quote from a drawing?
For classroom sets built from stocked models, yes. New shapes are quoted after a feasibility review of small parts, joints and finish.
